TPU Launch/Pilot Course
by Thomas Knapp - Saturday, 22 September 2007, 11:33 AM
Please pardon our construction debris -- Tom Paine University officially launches on October 1st with one pilot course, "Letters to the Editor 101." The pilot course is free, enrollment ends September 30th, and a maximum of ten students will be accepted.

Once we've successfully conducted the pilot course and applied the lessons learned about constructing and teaching in the Moodle environment, we'll launch a more robust program of training and education for libertarian activists.

Regards,
Tom Knapp

Available Courses

Students in LTE 101 will identify one or more prospective publishers of letters to the editor in their local areas; retrieve, read and understand the identified publications' letter policies and submission information and add that information to a class database (which will eventually be made publicly accessible to facilitate LTE submissions by non-students and former students); identify topics of likely interest to the identified publications and to the reading public; and research, write, improve, proofread and successfully submit a guidelines-compliant letter to the editor for publication.

The goal of Tom Paine University is to equip libertarians with useful skills and tools for political activism, and with the ability to in turn equip others with those same skills and tools.
